Born and raised in rural New Jersey, I spent most of my youth in the coastal towns of Ocean County. In 1985 I began my studies at Virginia Tech, earning a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction.

Residential architecture and design has always been my passion. I started in the profession on the outskirts of Atlanta Georgia and my life and work took me to the Front Range of Colorado where I worked on custom homes in mountain town of Boulder. Since returning east in 2001, the landscape, history, and people of the Hudson Valley, have provided me with endless inspiration.

For over 25 years my practice has been enriched by collaborations with many talented designers, builders, architects, and visionary clients. For many of those years I worked alongside my friend and mentor, Dennis Wedlick, in the Hudson, New York office we opened together.
Our work included homes in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, and many notable commissions in the Hudson Valley. In 2010 the firm was recognized as an Architectural Digest top 100 design firm and in subsequent years garnered a good deal of attention for energy efficient – ‘Passive House’ projects. This included Passive House homes in Columbia County, the first certified Passive House church in America, and several Passive House projects for Habitat for Humanity.

Guiding my clients toward a beautiful realization of their aspirations has been my greatest joy over the years. Establishing a firm of my own, Bailey Design Studio, has given me greater freedom to work with clients more intimately.
